What is Mind Mapping and Mind Mapping Software?

Mind Maps are networks of ideas or words, displayed so you can clearly visualize interconnections of concepts
Concepts are just key ideas
You generally wouldn't put extreme details into a mind map, but you certainly can if the detail is something important you want to log
Mind Mapping software and apps are simply wonderful tools which make it easier for you to quickly document and save your mind maps
You can always write your own mind maps using pen and paper of course, but for most people using the software is easier
Note that Mind Maps, Concept Maps, and Mental Models are all similar terminologies that can often be used interchangeably

You don't have to be a genius to be creative, anyone can do it
Part of your creative nature comes from simply believing that you can be creative, or believing that you are creative
For example, anyone that automatically assumes they cannot be creative and always tells people they are not creative is probably cutting themselves short before they have really tried
A good way to improve your creativity is to log your ideas, share them, and think of ways to improve upon them
Mind mapping software presents a fantastic way for you to keep track of your ideas
There is plenty of mind mapping software on the internet, and plenty of apps, which you can access for free or for a low cost
Logging ideas using mind mapping tools is easy and convenient, you just have to write some text in the boxes or bubbles given, and connect the ideas together where you see patterns
If you are not happy with the user friendliness of one software, there are plenty to choose from so do not worry just try another one.
By getting into the habit of logging your ideas, you can be sure you won't forget them or overlook a great idea

You can keep track of any ideas with mind maps, so long as they can be written, and for many apps attachments can sometimes also be included, such as picture documents
Anything that you have a lot of interest in or that relates to some goals you have may be a good place to start
You can log ideas that relate to your daily interests, ideas to make money, ideas for birthday gifts, etc.

If you want to be creative don't overthink what you include in your mind map initially. If you overthink it you will second guess everything and have too small of a mind map to be useful
It is best to include all ideas even if speculative or doubtful, and then analyze them and gauge them for potential at a later time
Don't try to include everything in your life into a single map. You can create different maps for different reasons if you like. One for money making ideas, one for short story ideas, one for your personal life, etc. if you wish
You may want to set aside 5 or 10 minutes a day to update your mind map, or you may simply want to pull up your mind map at any time of the day you get a new idea, to be sure you won't forget it
Learn the specific features of your chosen program or website, all websites will have fairly similar features, but they tend to have some unique features as well
Don't overcomplicate things and keep it fun. If you are on a website that is frustrating you just try it again later, or find another site.

There can be real benefits regardless of whether you decide to mind map for your professional goals, to log ideas related to a hobby, or whether you just decide to mind map for the fun of it
With mind mapping you can see interconnections between ideas that you wouldn't necessarily see by just making lists of ideas or writing them into a journal
Mind mapping gives you a unique visual representation of ideas and can stimulate creativity as well as help you organize your ideas
With mind maps you are rewarded by seeing your creative ideas build over time, and you are rewarded with a nice organization of concepts (provided you take the time to organize them coherently)
One of your ideas could be a really big hit, you might hit a big money maker, or you might find that if you pursue one idea you are able to then pursue a lot of smaller related ideas easily

When you've constructed your mind map, it is important to then consider which ideas might be worth pursuing
Think about which ideas interest you the most, and which ideas you could pursue in a clump since they are so related
Are there certain loose connections you hadn't considered in your mind. Perhaps if you were to connect some concepts you previously thought were not related, you'd come up with some sort of a grand idea that would revolutionize the world as we know it?
It seems unlikely to come up with such a grand idea, but you never know unless you start logging your ideas
It is fairly easy and fairly efficient to begin logging your ideas. Certainly this requires less effort than keeping a daily journal.
